You’ve probably realized that real leather, while beautiful, does not come to us in a beautiful way. If you’re like me, when I realized what animals go through for us to have leather goods, I had to make a change.

So I started searching for vegan leather bags. The first company that caught my eye gave me hope that you don’t need animal leather to look lovely. These were the best vegan leather bags I’d ever seen and the company seemed to be all about the environment, too. A major WIN.

Some of us really love our purses. And if you’re a purse person like me, you probably have a few too many stowed away for a fancy day. (But isn’t EVERY day a fancy day?)

When I look for a new bag, my very first criterion is that it’s cruelty-free. These days, I’m more determined than ever to find cute accessories without harming even cuter fur friends.

One company that inspires me to always look for vegan leather is Pixie Mood. When I first came across this brand, I was SOLD.

Pixie Mood is a Canadian-US brand that uses zero materials from animals while creating the most adorable designs. Their vegan leather is made from recycled plastic bottles and by doing this, they’ve eliminated over 2,500,000 of these bottles from ending up in the landfill. I think this is absolutely FABULOUS.

Here are a few more reasons I love Pixie Mood (and maybe a few of my wish list items, too—a girl can dream!).

Sustainable Materials

In addition to using recycled plastic bottles, Pixie Mood creates with recycled canvas, recycled vegan shearling, and recycled vegan wool. These are cottons and polyesters, respectively, which means they’re NOT derived from any animals like sheep or alpacas.

Also, they make their bag linings out of recycled water bottles!

Another unique material they incorporate is cork (similar to the ones you pop off your sparkling rosé!). How is this cork used, you may ask? Pixie Mood sustainably sources cork oak tree bark from trees in Portugal. This means the trees can still grow for years when the bark is removed.
