FAQ

What kinds of things can I find on katstano.com?

KatStano.com is a place for compassionate, meticulous shoppers, with fun tips for eco-friendly and cruelty-free lifestyle choices to gifts that have meaning and story.

It’s a place for kindred spirits in creativity and kindness, where we can share the ideas that make a difference in our lives.

It’s a place for the homebodies, but we like you social butterflies, too!

What does it mean to be eco conscious?

For me, it’s a mindset. It’s thinking about the environment before I purchase something. It’s considering options that consider the welfare of animals. It’s doing what I can, but realizing I can’t do everything.

It’s hoping we all can work together, share ideas, and help each other succeed.

What are five ways to be eco conscious?

There are so many things we can do to reduce our carbon footprint, but no matter what, it’s a journey. It’s about progress…not perfection!

  1. Consume less. That means not buying EVERYTHING you see, but maybe only SOME things.
  2. Buy secondhand, vintage, and antique pieces.
  3. Think about packaging before you make your final purchase. Is there an alternative housed in glass rather than plastic?
  4. Get creative and repurpose items you already have. Could that floral teacup be a cute planter?
  5. Take care of your things. The longer something lasts, the longer you can wait to replace it.
What brings you joy?

So, like, a lot.

  • Writing with voice and personality
  • Playing piano and singing
  • Talking to my dog in weird voices
  • Taking pictures of my dog
  • A decluttered house and mind (still working on this!)
  • Finding the perfect gift
  • Staying up too late to watch movies
  • An antique with a story
  • Watching something I planted thrive
  • A French martini with my bestie
  • Feeding the birds
  • Walking on the shore with my love
  • Twinkle lights
  • A snowy December evening
  • Waking up in my childhood home
  • All kinds of nostalgia
Kat Stano FAQ
Does your fur child actually read all of her mail?
Kat Stano FAQ Cosette

Definitely, yes! Cosette the Schnoodle loves hearing from her fans! She’s very good at making human friends. However, she does have some disdain for squirrels, cars, and our washing machine.

so, what’s your story, Kat?

I have a degree in Music and have worked as a relationship writer for the past 20 years.

I also photograph important moments, with a focus on capturing the best parts of the story.

I spend a lot of time treasure hunting for the gems. It’s all about the gems!

I love getting to know good people. But good dogs are where you’ll find my heart.

I always am working on a creative project or four! Right now, it’s learning popular songs to sing and play on the piano. Send me your requests!

What do you wish you knew when you were younger?

I wish I knew that I didn’t have to be a people pleaser 24/7 to still remain conscientious and kind.

I wish I knew I could be a better advocate for myself…and that it’s necessary to be that.

I wish I knew a really good personal stylist:

This is an old photo of Kat as a kid in the '80s, with a mullet and questionable fashion choices.
This isn’t the easiest look to pull together, but I obviously managed it!
How can I contact you?

Please send an email to [email protected]. I always stop what I’m doing to reply to nice people!

Thank you!

Hostas are some of my favorite plants. Their abund Hostas are some of my favorite plants. Their abundant tropical-esque leaves are not only beautiful, but they’re sooooo easy to grow and divide.

My little “yard nature preserve” is a hosta paradise for bees, hummingbirds, and cardinals. Plus, my sweet garden bunnies and sneaky slugs love them, too, but that’s a whole other conversation🤣

Stay tuned for more hosta tips!

Trees: the original shadies! Today, on World Envir Trees: the original shadies! Today, on World Environment Day, I hope one of your favorite trees comes to mind. What does it look like? Is it a big, shady oak or a magnolia bursting with flowers? Is it from your childhood or the park down the street?

I’ve always been obsessed with trees and am typically taking pics of them like an overly eager tourist. It never gets old to me. (Maybe for people around me, but not me!)

Trees are so important for our planet, from the air we breathe to the homes they provide for our furry and feathery friends. 🐿️🦉I just love them! 🩷

Thanks, trees, for your shade, protection, and beauty! 🌲🌴🌳

Good things can come from rain even though it migh Good things can come from rain even though it might make us somewhat soggy for a while☔️

When I worked at a bank out of college, one of my fellow coworker friends told me I wasn’t soggy, meaning I was always smiling and chipper (annoying 21-year-old, that was me!) compared to our soggy workmate (who had lived a bit longer than we had and deserved the soggy status).

Now that I’m older, I can get A LOT soggier, but I also know flowers still grow even in the toughest of times. Which is sunshine for my soul☀️🏖️🌈🦄🦋

Hope you feel loved today whatever life forecasts. Because you’re worth all the sunny days🩷🌈☀️
